Public Health Officials of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) to Support Kivos Research Group Free HSE Training of SMEs

Public Health Officials of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has pledged their support for the upcoming series of 3-days Free HSE Training of SMEs employees and management teams within the Benin metropolis organized by Kivos Research Group. The Public Health officers are to provide intellectual and technical support during the training under their expertise.

The Free HSE Training is a long-term training program in a series. Kivos Research Group aim to provide this free 3 days training to atleast one cooperate enterprise within a month for a period of one year to SMEs whose scope of employee duties requires basic HSE knowledge and skills for a safer and better workforce.

The need for HSE Training of SME workforce cannot be overemphasized, as over 100 people are killed each year in accidents at work and over one thousand people are injured and many more suffer illnesses caused by, or made worse by, their work. So, preventing accidents and ill health caused by work should be a key priority for everyone at work. Workplace hazards and risks assessment – deals with fundamental principles of Environmental, Health and Safety Management in workplace, planning for hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control etc.

Workplace saftey procedures – deals with emergency preparedness and response. Safety procedures for emergency response, performance measuring, monitoring and improvement with regards to HSE regulations as per Personal Protective Equipment usage and compliance.

Workplace HSE routine for staffs – deals with enforcement of drills, strategies, procedures, checklists, data collection, data analysis, reporting of safety practises and compliance.

Practical Sections – deals with use of PPE, Fire extinguishers, Fire drills, Exit plan, Muster Point etc.
